Before he founded Berry Law Firm, John Berry Sr. served three tours in Vietnam, where he earned the Bronze Star.

During his service, John transferred from Infantry to the Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps and worked as chief defense counsel for Vietnam’s largest general court martial jurisdiction.

John’s role took him throughout Vietnam, protecting the rights of GIs. His journeys included successfully defending members of the 5th Special Forces against murder charges.

Summary
This event was a Silver Star award ceremony for First Lieutenant John Nelson, Infantry Platoon Leader, Charlie Company, 2nd Battalion, 12th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile) for his valorous and courageous actions while operating in Cambodia. He is accompanied by Captain Jim Wright and ILt. Jack Downing.
Story

1Lt. Nelson, while in Cambodia in 1970 lead his infantry platoon during an North Vietnamese Army deadly ambush. He courageously led his platoon throughout the engagement and succeeded in successfully withdrawing while still under heavy enemy fire.
